What's new...

I always say I am going to keep up with this sorta thing, but obviously that's not the case... So, I am trying to think what is new...

Last thursday, Aunt Ella came over for a "stay-cation". We had so much fun, we started with my curtains for the dining room. I will have to post a picture of those later, but she mostly gets credit for those.

So, while she was working on that... I made these cord covers (of dupioni silk remnants):

Next, I started on some clothes for Brendan. Here are the pants I came up with:

Then, I started on this seersucker romper. It came out SO cute, but it did take a while! It was my my first button holes and first snaps. Here we go:

I have been having so much fun sewing and making things. Plus, I started working at You R Invited in Prairieville. I have been doing monogramming and invitations. I am LOVING it! Plus, she is has the cutest little Shitzu that she brings to work. He is only 2 lbs. and so precious!!! I am in love!

Will post more updates later. . .

Apron and Pillow....

Here are some other things that I made this week...

I was laying in be one night and thought about how cute it would be to make a kid's apron for Kailey. I recently found out that she likes to help out cooking, and her birthday is coming up in June. I just thought it would be the cutest and most unique gift... I used directions from everythingyourmamamade.com. Here is what I came up with...
It definitely needs a little monogram or pocket... not sure what I am going to do yet, but I definitely like what came out so far...

Now, this project was way easy and made out of scraps. I patched together some plain khaki material even though I wish I would have had black for the pillow covering. And, for the ruffles... strips of an old sweater and black t-shirt. Here is what I came up with:
I am not totally satisfied with the result, but if the background was black, it would be SO cute!

Yesterday, with the help of Aunt Ella, we made a cute little pair of plaid pants for Brendan (even though we thought were going to be shorts) and another cute little outfit... I will post those tonight...

About to get ready to go to an awesome fabric store in New Orleans! I know, I can't believe I am so excited about this... Wow, has life changed! I am so excited though!!!!

One more completed project...

I worked on this project yesterday. I have found a lot of patterns for these, but I just went ahead and went with this one by Prudent Baby. It didn't come out totally how I expected, but it was okay... Stripes are always hard to line up and keep consistent (at least for me), so that was another obstacle.

The checkbook didn't fit as snugly in there as I had hoped, so I added an extra seam along the bottom edges... I also kept the ugly plastic one from the bank to keep some structure. So, it is far from perfect, but it was my first try.

Plus, the personalization was my added touch :) I am going to go crazy with a monogramming machine! Can.not.imagine!

So, this is yesterday's project... Once I get pictures of the cute pillow I worked on today, that will be next... Plus, bow blog still to come. I am very new to all this (sewing and blogging), so here we go...

A few goodies...

Ok... So, I have recently discovered that I love to sew... I think I am pretty good at it too for just picking it back up... I tried to come up with a crafty little title... All the good ones that I could come up with were taken, so that's how I landed here. So, I already know it's a little cheesy... So, here is what I have come up with so far (from the past couple months or so)...

This is one of my first burp cloths...

And another... I obviously had to get it monogrammed... We haven't gotten that far yet :)

I LOVE this one!!!

Not as exciting... but one of my firsts...

My second adventure... Pillowcase dresses. They came out so cute!

Brinlee's crate set: I think this came out so cute! I have already had to repair it once so we will see how long it takes for her to tear it up again :(

These baby shoes went on top of a diaper cake. They took forever! Small things seem to take so much longer... And, not one of my best creations but one of the beginning tries so I need to try to remember these...

Here is the diaper cake! Efforts of my mother and I... and it came out cute!

Matching bib & burp cloth... There won't be many of these... This minky fabric is atleast $15/yard... But I had to try it:)

Here are 2 of the 3 car trash bags I made. They came out really cute, and I am pretty sure this will help out my trashy car :)

Kindle case & eye glasses case -- for Jeremy's mom for her birthday. She loved it! I was pretty excited about this way it came out... just missing a little monogramming ;)

My newest interest has been bows... No I don't have a little girl, and I am NOT planning on it any time soon... But, everywhere you go, they seem to be a hit... Just want to try it out... Coming in next post!
